"Siddhartha" by Hermann Hesse follows the spiritual journey of Siddhartha, exploring themes of self-discovery and enlightenment amidst the backdrop of ancient India and Nepal. Siddhartha leaves his privileged life, pursues asceticism, encounters the Buddha, explores worldly pleasures, and eventually finds peace by a river with the ferryman Vasudeva. Through introspection and encounters with others like Kamala and Govinda, Siddhartha learns profound truths about existence, timelessness, and the interconnectedness of all life.

Hermann Hesse

Hermann Hesse was a German-Swiss poet, novelist, and painter. Born in Germany with Baltic German and French-Swiss heritage, he had a passion for poetry and music. After a difficult youth and brief seminary study, he pursued self-education. His first novel, "Peter Camenzind," was published in 1904. Influenced by a 1911 trip to India and Jungian analysis, his works like "Demian," "Steppenwolf," "Siddhartha," and "The Glass Bead Game" explore spirituality and self-discovery. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1946.
