Analysis of Genetic Diversity in Different Varieties of Pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.) based on ISSR Marker

Abstract
Genetic diversity was analysed among thirty accessions of Ananas comosus based on ISSR marker. Genomic DNA from these accessions were isolated and amplified using eight ISSR primers. The eight ISSR primers generated a total of 84 bands. All primers showed 100 per cent polymorphism. A dendrogram showing genetic relationships among the accessions was constructed based on Jaccard’s similarity coefficient values. The dendrogram consists of four principal clusters. Average Shannon information index calculated was 1.99. These results indicate that ISSR marker is a powerful tool for genetic diversity analysis in pineapple.
