Current Review on Cyanobacteria

Abstract
Cyanobacteria was a well-known Prokaryote with a long evolutionary history and unique features. They are involved in oxygenic photosynthesis and produced high biomass yield. Such organisms grew well on both clean aquatic environment and contaminated and polluted water system. The present study has reviewed the cyanobacterial role in different fields of science. It is applied in various fields in the production of biofertilizers, algal food, pharmaceuticals, animal feed and bioremediation. Recently, cyanobacteria have opened new ways to explore in different fields of screening the beneficial organisms and applied in genetic engineering techniques without showing side effects. The present work reviewed about the cyanobacterial applications in different fields of science that could be used to deal with the current issues and scarcity such as food, energy and environmental deterioration.
