Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are revolutionizing plant research, transforming our understanding of plant biology. These techniques optimize resource utilization by analyzing agricultural data. The food scarcity that humans feared to face shortly has been addressed by adopting innovative practices using technological advancements. Precision agriculture based on AI has the potential to understand, interpret, and manipulate complex biological processes in a shorter stipulated time with more ease and efficiency. AI has been considered as a future tool, that will be greener, changing the way of studying and doing research on plants growing in all environments ranging from dry labs (simple and complex computer-based data analysis) to well-controlled lab conditions, semi-controlled greenhouse conditions, and highly variable field conditions. The technology is used for field harvesting, health monitoring, weed and pest control, detection of nutrient deficiencies in soil, and other tasks.Machine learning can significantly enhance conventional botanical research, accelerating discoveries and improving our understanding of plant biology. The present review work emphasizes the importance of AI in plant science research.
