Abstract
Localisation of SDGs became imperative since the UN gave thrust on fulfilling 17 SDGs in its Agenda 2030. The introduction of SDG 11.4 in the agenda, committed to safeguarding and protecting heritage has engendered remarkable shifts in the planning process and perception of planners as well as policymakers in India. Against this background, a thorough review of literature has been undertaken to comprehend the process of localisation of SDGs in the context of India and more specifically, Delhi, in the present paper. Besides, it also reviews existing international literature of urban heritage management, nationalisation of the SDGs and narrows down to heritage management in Delhi through the process of localisation. The paper finally gives instances of how Local Area Plans can be integrated with Heritage Management to achieve the localisation of SDGs. And that a bottom approach facilitated by local area planning can facilitate localisation.
