Abstract
Pre-cut lumber is a wooden building material that is cut to the size of pillars, beams, and other building elements and fitted with joint brackets as necessary. In Japan, the use of pre-cut lumber as a building material for wooden houses is increasing due to its advantages such as shorter construction time and lower construction costs. The demand for pre-cut lumber is increasing, but the number of pre-cut lumber production plants is decreasing, thus improving the production efficiency of pre-cut lumber is an issue. Based on the above background, we have been working to improve the productivity of a pre-cut production process. As part of this project, we are studying how to improve the operational efficiency of a pre-cut lumber warehouse. In this paper, the scheduling algorithm for production processes and warehouses that produces products in an easy-to-pack sequence to reduce the number of packing racks in the warehouse is proposed.
