Abstract:
With the changing climate and environment due to numerous anthropogenic factors it is becoming necessary to append the traditional studies with the changing needs of the environment simultaneously not disturbing the efficient flow of resources. Inventory management holds a lot of potential in terms of efficient and trouble-free flow of resources over the different places and times. It also can be the great source of emissions in the activities like warehousing, storing, productionandordering. Therefore, the proposed research helps to understand the effect of cost of carbon emissions associated with holding cost and ordering cost on the total inventory management, at the same time trying to consider the probabilistic nature of the demand during lead time. The study shows that, to limit the overall carbon emissions, balance need to be established between the emissions costs during holding and ordering and the inclusion of inflation effect on the holding cost helps to understand it’s significant impact on order quantity and increase in total cost.
