South Asia's Decline in Sport

Efforts to isolate sport and its international competitions from the prevailing regional turmoil has found little success.

Mr. Prabhjot Singh is a veteran journalist specialising in investigative, sport, environmental and business reporting. He joined The Tribune, the oldest and largest circulated English daily of North India, in 1976 and continued working for it in various capacities for almost four decades. Currently a media consultant based in Toronto/Chandigarh, he has remained associated with various news agencies, including Reuters, and media houses like PTC News (India/Canada), Parvasi Media (Canada) and the Liberal World (India). He has covered seven Olympic Games, written extensively about business and the financial markets, the health industry, public and private sector, aviation, and worked as a political reporter covering Sikh and Punjab politics. He has a special interest in the Indian diaspora in general, and Sikh diaspora in particular. In 2012, he was chosen for the International Press Institute’s prestigious special investigative journalism award for his series on exploitation of public transport by influential politicians. He is also recipient of several awards and honours in recognition of his journalism. He is the winner of three national newspaper awards; and two fellowships by media houses, including the KK Birla Foundation of the Hindustan Times. Born and raised in Punjab, India, he now lives in Toronto and is an avid sportsman.
