In today's world of uncertainty, the Bay of Bengal community needs to find its own representation. The potential of this region is yet to be fully explored. Without creating one strong voice, it cannot emerge as an agenda-setter on a global scale.

Dr. Rashed Uz Zaman, from the department of International Relations, University of Dhaka, has a doctorate in Strategic Studies from the University of Reading, UK and is an Alexander von Humboldt post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Erfurt, Germany. He has been a Fulbright Visiting Professor in the department of Political Science at Vanderbilt University, US. Dr. Zaman works on strategic and international security issues, and has spoken and written extensively on Bangladesh in UN peacekeeping missions.
