Down and Out in Paris and London is a semi-autobiographical work by George Orwell that explores poverty and survival in two major cities. The book follows Orwell’s experiences living in near-destitution, working menial jobs in Paris kitchens and wandering homeless in London. It highlights social inequality, the harsh realities of low-wage labor, and human resilience, offering a powerful critique of class divisions and the invisibility of the poor in modern society.
